Nationally recognized meteorologist Janessa Webb is DC News Now’s Chief Meteorologist, delivering accurate and informative weather forecasts on weekdays at 6, 7, 9 and 10 p.m.
Before joining DC News Now, Janessa spent three years as a meteorologist/severe weather reporter at NBC News/MSNBC. There, she gave daily weather forecasts and live hurricane coverage on many shows from the Today Show, Weekend Today, Early Today, Morning Joe, and the 11th Hour with Brian Williams. Prior to NBC News, she served as a meteorologist/helicopter traffic reporter in the Midwest at WEWS in Cleveland, OH.
Webb began her career in her home state, Anchorage, Alaska as a meteorologist, sports anchor, and master control agent at KYUR and KTVA, for over eight years. She graduated from East Anchorage High School prior to studying at Winston Salem State.
An accomplished meteorologist, Janessa is a Certified Storm Chaser by the National Weather Service and a member of the National Weather Association, American Meteorological Society, and the National Association of Black Journalists. Janessa has served as a mentor to young journalists throughout her career and believes strongly in giving back to the community. Her family and strong faith have been paramount to that purpose.
In her spare time, Janessa enjoys extreme adventures such as skydiving, hiking mountains, and ultra-marathons.
