Based on Bonnie Garmus' mega-hit 2022 novel of the same name, "Lessons in Chemistry" follows protagonist Elizabeth Zott on a journey to find her own way in a (man's) world that continually underestimates her.

Academy Award winner Brie Larson ("Room," "Captain Marvel") finely balances Zott's impervious exterior — necessary to be taken seriously — with the unexpected life and career detours that come her way. The story is structured as a sort of circumstantial mystery: we first meet Elizabeth as the host of a popular 1960s cooking program before flashing back to her beginnings as a junior chemist in an all-male lab.

Along the way, she meets a celebrated but misunderstood Nobel-prize nominee (Lewis Pullman, "Top Gun: Maverick") and his neighbor, (Aja Naomi King, "How to Get Away with Murder"), a Black mother fighting to save the neighborhood from an unjust construction project.

Helping bring Garmus' novel to the screen is "Lessons" creator, executive producer and writer Lee Eisenberg ("The Office," "Jury Duty") and director Sarah Adina Smith ("Legion," "Looking for Alaska"). Six-time Emmy Award nominee Eisenberg previously told Entertainment Weekly the "beautiful" book quickly became his favorite after he started reading from his wife's Kindle.

One of the series' knockout moments comes in episode 3, which is narrated from the point of view of a dog (voiced by B.J. Novak). On its face, the idea sounds destined for mockery but "Lessons" manages to weave a nuanced emotional arc centered around grief and self-doubt. If any episode of the show is going to make you weep, it's probably this one.

Meanwhile, the series beefs up the role Harriet (King), who serves as the audience's (and Elizabeth's) entryway into what Black Americans were experiencing during this time. The show takes care to illustrate that while Elizabeth is fighting to be taken seriously in her career, Harriet — and women who look like her — are fighting to just be heard at all.

"Lessons in Chemistry" ultimately delivers a story for not only women but for anyone who's had to work harder for credibility — and for anyone who's found ways to succeed at being themselves when their first choices don't work out.

Apple TV+ will release the first two episodes of "Lessons in Chemistry" Oct. 13 and subsequent episodes will be released weekly through Nov. 24.

After the Kansas City Chiefs won their second Super Bowl in four years that featured the Kelce family in the lead-up, Travis spent almost the entire offseason building his brand.

That included a lot of commercials and attention with his brother Jason and his mom Donna, his own "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig, and a Vanity Fair profile that explained how he's setting himself up for life after football.

His offseason also featured a seemingly failed attempt at courting pop star Taylor Swift at her The Eras Tour show.

That attempt turned out to not be a failure since she returned to Arrowhead Stadium for a Chiefs win against the Chicago Bears after headlining two sold-out concert dates in July.

The duo were even seen walking out together after the game, and reports of their Sunday night in Kansas City ruled headlines afterward. Then Swift showed up for the Chiefs' win over the New York Jets this past Sunday, and the lore continued into this week.

When Kelce spoke to local media for the first time since training camp, one day after his 34th birthday, he sounded similar to how he always sounds on his "New Heights" podcast and other media interviews: composed, reflective but, even more so this time around, gracious.

"As all the attention comes, it feels like you know, I was on top of the world after the Super Bowl and right now even even more on top of the world so it's fun," he said Friday afternoon.

"Everybody is having fun with it, you know, whether I think they're overdoing it or not, you know, I'd know I brought this to myself or I've been fortunate enough to have fun with it, you know, and that's, that's where all that really matters is that it's not pissing anybody off [in the Chiefs facility] at least.

"So I'm having fun with it. And you know, I think that like I said earlier, I've been pretty good at just compartmentalizing and making sure that my focus is always about you know, winning the game and, and I don't see that changing anytime soon."

What Kelce has quickly learned by dating a popstar with a multi-million dollar tour and with a quarter of a billion person following, the microscope is on her always.

While he gets attention from the sports community for his Hall of Fame career, it seems minuscule when paparazzi follow him to the Chiefs practice facility.

"We're learning with the paparazzi just taking photos from from all over the place but at the same time, it comes with it. You got a lot of people that care about Taylor and for good reason," Kelce said.

"So it's, um, you know, just gotta keep living and learning and enjoying the moments and at the end of the day, you know, I've always been pretty good about compartmentalizing and being able to stay focused in this building. So I just keep rolling with that, man."

The Chiefs are 3-1 this season going into a road trip to Minnesota to face the Vikings. The one loss came when Kelce injured his knee on the Tuesday before the team's Thursday night season opener against the Detroit Lions.

"The toughest part for me was to just get back in the groove, you know, with a knee injury and everything going into that week or going coming out of the Lions week in Week 1," he said.

"Some things that have popped up that just make you stay on top of it.

"I think everybody gets to this point in their career if they're fortunate enough to get to year 11 in their career. You know, you definitely got to start to hone in on things even more and, and just, you know, just make sure that you're available. You know, make sure that you're doing everything you can to make yourself available and yeah, that's always been the mindset for sure."

Kelce's first game back in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars saw him struggle on the field, and his body language showed that throughout the game. After one play, he received a penalty for taking his helmet off too early. He still managed a touchdown with 26 yards on four catches.

His second TD came when Swift was in his family's box suite with his mother. Kelce is second in receiving yards for the Chiefs with 155 receiving yards and two TDs.

His improved play is needed with a usual prolific offensive unit that has only averaged two touchdowns per game outside of the Bears win.

"There's been that aspect and then on top of that, as a whole as a unit, just staying on the page for four quarters sustained on the stand, you know, together for four quarters putting it all together as an offense specifically and just non stop trying to get better, man. That's always been the goal," he said.

While Kelce and superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes are usually in sync since they've been together for six years, they haven't had the best chemistry this season.

"We're still learning. We're still trying to figure things out and trying to make the best decision. You know, it's one thing when, when it goes right and then you want to do something based off of what you just did, knowing that the defense saw it right," Kelce said.

"So it's just nonstop playing chess with the guys across from you and you just got to make sure you're you're on the same page and you're not putting the team in a tough spot or putting Pat in a tough spot like it did last week a few times."

When a media member told Kelce he hates to call him 34, Kelce responded back with a simple "Why you hate to say that" which was met with laughter throughout the room.

"I'm very fortunate to get to 34, man, and to be able to do what I love, man," he said.

"I got a lot of shoutouts from family, friends, a lot of people reaching out yesterday. Chiefs Kingdom always shows love and it's an appreciating day. You know, it's as much as everybody wants to make it about me, I just see how much how much family and friends that I have around me and I you know, it's always a beautiful thing."

A man who has embraced learning lessons in life is embracing growing older in a sport that most times will not let athletes age with grace. Kelce is looking to buck that trend.

"A lot of my home games, I have a lot of family and friends come in town. And you know, that's almost like a birthday every single week. You know, especially when we get a win because I think it's a 20-person suite," he said.

"So you got at least 20 people coming in to see you specifically play, you know, the game you've been playing since you were a kid. There's a bit of a birthday feel to that when you get the family and friends around."

"I'm always reflecting on how appreciative I am of you know, the people around me knowing. I grew up with a great community. I grew up with a great group of friends that I'm still close with and on top of that, we've grabbed a lot of good ones along the way."

Emaza Gibson claims the "Trumpets" and "Whatcha Say" hitmaker signed her to his label, Future History, in 2021 with plans to make a mixtape and album.

Instead, as Gibson's lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleges, Derulo used a Haitian phrase, "goat skin and fish scales," that Gibson interpreted to mean Derulo demanded "sexual acts from Plaintiff" and made reference to doing cocaine.

"This explicit demand for sex-in-exchange-for-success was reinforced through DERULO’s subsequent behavior," which included aggression, yelling and a lack of professional opportunities after Gibson rejected his advances, the lawsuit argues.

Ron Zambrano, Gibson's attorney, said in a news release that "Mr. Derulo’s behavior toward this young artist was despicable, and, unfortunately, another example of the music industry’s dark underbelly."

"He not only broke promises and breached contracts, but his threats of physical harm and unconscionable sexual advances toward this young woman who is just trying to break into the industry were outrageous and illegal,” Zambrano said.

Other defendants in the lawsuit include Atlantic Records and RCA Records, which worked with Gibson and Future History.

“Executives knew of Derulo’s behavior without a care," Zambrano added. "No one should have to suffer through such treatment by their employer, and in this case, by someone who preyed on the plaintiff’s vulnerabilities and desire to succeed, then just threw her away like garbage when he didn’t get his way."

KTLA has reached out to Derulo's representatives for comment but has not yet heard back.

On Friday, however, Derulo issued a video response on Instagram.

"I wouldn’t normally comment but these claims are completely false and hurtful," he said. "I stand against all forms of harassment and I remain supportive of anybody following their dreams. I’ve always strived to live my life in a positively impactful way, and that’s why I sit here before you deeply offended, by these defamatory claims. God bless."

Since Swift attended the Chiefs' Sunday night game against the New York Jets, the photos and celebrity appearances have flooded social media, news articles and search engine suggestions. Now, some are speculating that creating a lot of new results when someone Google searches "Taylor Swift" and "Jets" at the same time was the entire point of her going to the game.

You may be wondering: But why would she do that?

It all goes back to earlier this year when Swift caught sky-high criticism for her use of the private jet she owns. In July, data and marketing firm Yard named Swift the top offender in its list of Celebs with the Worst Private Jet Co2 Emissions.

Yard's research reported that Swift's jet spent nearly 15.9 days total in the air, accounting for about 8,293.54 tonnes of Co2 emissions, "or 1,184.8 times more than the average person's total annual emissions."

Despite Swift's representative telling Yard "Taylor's jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect," the clarification did little to quell concerns.

"I don't care who's on the plane, it shouldn't be making those flights and producing all those emissions," one person wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. "If you own it, you're responsible for it. They should all be flying commercial (and flying less)."

But the backlash faded as time went on and more Swift-universe news took focus, including her record-breaking The Eras Tour, which is currently paused before one final 2023 date and more through 2024. Now, with the word "jet" and "Taylor" back in the news, comes this interesting SEO-gaming theory.

"... A month ago if you looked up 'Taylor Swift Jets' you would get a ton of articles about her private jet emissions but now if you search it up, you get articles speculating about her relationship," one X user said this week.

The concept of burying undesirable news with search engine terms isn't new, there are plenty of celebrity SEO-based conspiracy theories. A few that can be found across social media include Disney changing the name of "Frozen" from its original title, "The Snow Queen," to muddy results for people researching the long-fabled cryogenically frozen head of Walt Disney. Another such theory includes the actor Rob Lowe, who starred in the 2014 comedy film "Sex Tape" — which would potentially help occlude search results for the leaked 1988 videotape that helped derail his career.

Could Swift's appearance at Met Life Stadium this past Sunday turn out to be such a clever move? The world will likely never know.

In the meantime, it is likely coverage of the Swift-Kelce rumored romance will continue, though neither have officially confirmed any relationship. The Chiefs' next game will be Sunday, Oct. 8 against the Minnesota Vikings — stay tuned for any Taylor spottings.

Travis Kelce agreed Wednesday with the idea that NFL TV coverage has been “overdoing it” with the amount of times Taylor Swift has been on screen while attending his Kansas City Chiefs' games the last two weeks.

Swift was in a suite Sunday night at MetLife Stadium for the Chiefs' victory over the New York Jets in prime time. Jason Kelce, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, told his brother during their “ New Heights ” podcast that cameras showed live shots of the suite no fewer than 17 times during the game.

“Damn, that's crazy,” Travis Kelce said. “That's like once a drive.”

Travis did say that it's fun when the cameras show which famous people are at a game. Swift was in the suite with actors Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Hugh Jackman.

“But at the same time, I think they’re overdoing it a little bit for sure, especially my situation,” Travis added.

Ian Trombetta, the NFL’s senior vice president of social, influencer and content marketing, said in an interview with The Associated Press that the league wants to “make sure we remain in a celebratory sort of posture and position, and one that we don't want to over-commercialize, in a way.”

Trombetta noted that “there's always chatter around different celebrities and so on that are attending different games, but this took a life of its own, and I think a big part of it has to do with just the high level of interest in Taylor and what’s going on with her personal life, as well as Travis.”

Jason Kelce said he believes the NFL just isn't used to having as many celebrities at games. He said it's more common at NBA games, where they show the A-listers a couple of times but then stick to the game.

That hasn't been the case the last two Sundays when the Chiefs were playing with their Grammy-winning fan in attendance.

“I’ll tell you what though, you never know, you could get caught throwing a big ol’ cheeseburger in and you look like an idiot, you know what I mean?” Travis Kelce said on the podcast. “There’s certain things, you don’t want to be on TV at all times.”

Former cast member Pete Davidson will host the show's 49th season premiere, which airs at 10:30 p.m. CST on Saturday, Oct. 14, on NBC and Peacock.

Ice Spice will also perform as an SNL musical guest for the first time. Her music has reached more than 4 billion global streams in the past year, and she was named Best New Artist at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

The entire cast from season 48 is returning, along with new addition Chloe Troast, who is joining as a featured player.

The following week, on Oct. 21, Bad Bunny will act as host and musical guest. The Grammy Award-winning artist’s fourth studio album, “Un Verano Sin Ti,” broke the record earlier this year as the most streamed album ever on Spotify.

Davidson had been set to host May 6, alongside musical guest Lil Uzi Vert, but his episode was the first to be cut after the writers strike started just days before.

The writers strike was declared over Sept. 26 after Writers Guild of America board members approved a contract agreement with studios. While Hollywood actors are still on strike for most television and theatrical work, the “SNL” cast can resume performing as variety shows operate under a different contract.

Other late-night shows like “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” have also returned.

For the third time ever, in more than 40 years, Vanna White was out sick.

Don't worry, she's OK.

White missed a day of filming back in August as she was recovering from COVID-19. Being absent from one day of filming means she missed five episodes that are airing this week.

She got sick while filming “Teacher’s Week."

The episodes could not be rescheduled due to the school year starting, so Bridgette Donald-Blue, the 2023 California Teacher of the Year, stepped in as White’s replacement while she recovered.

Pat Sajak touched on White's absence during Monday's episode.

"You'll notice Vanna is not here, and I have to say that Ms. White has tested positive for COVID. That's the bad news,” he explained. “The good news is I talked to her just a little while ago and she feels fine. She has a little sniffle. But she tested positive and that's the way it goes, so she will not be with us here this week."

The last time White was out sick was in 1991.

The game show is currently in its 41st season, which is Sajak's last. Back in June, he announced his plans to retire.

Weeks later, it was revealed Ryan Seacrest would take over hosting duties.

In September, Deadline reported White had extended her contract for two more years on the game show.

This extension will take her through the 2025-26 season, which means she’ll be working alongside Seacrest.

Last week, a Clark County grand jury indicted 60-year-old Duane “Keffe D” Davis in Shakur’s murder.

Las Vegas Metro police arrested Davis near his Nevada home early Friday morning. The grand jury, which met at least five times over the course of three months, voted Thursday to indict Davis on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon with a gang enhancement. Prosecutors announced the indictment Friday.

The shooting on Sept. 7, 1996, a block off the Las Vegas Strip, followed a fight earlier in the night. In the hours before the murder, Shakur’s group reportedly attacked Orlando Anderson, a member of a rival gang and Davis’ nephew.

The files obtained Monday include video of Shakur and Marion “Suge” Knight leaving the MGM Grand after the fight. Photos also show the bullet-ridden car that Tupac was a passenger in. The grand jury was also shown photos of Shakur's autopsy.

In court documents, witnesses said Davis, a longtime gang member, was a known drug trafficker. Witnesses said Shakur himself was not in a gang, but affiliated himself with members of the Mob Piru, which itself aligns with the Bloods.

Davis was sitting in the front passenger seat of the car, which pulled up side-by-side to Tupac’s before the shooting at the intersection, police and prosecutors said. Knight, the then-head of Death Row Records, was driving a BMW sedan with Shakur in the passenger seat.

On Friday, Metro police showed a diagram of the car Davis was in, showing Anderson and a third man, Deandre Smith, sitting in the backseat. A South Side Crips gang affiliate testified it was Smith, not Anderson, who killed Shakur. Both Anderson and Smith are deceased.

A photo from Shakur’s autopsy was first leaked to reporter Cathy Scott in 1997 and published in her book, “The Killing of Tupac Shakur.” The grand jury evidence included four photos of Shakur's body, including a closeup of a bullet wound.

Prosecutors also showed the panel at least four videos of Davis giving interviews about the shooting.

Davis was expected to appear in court for his first appearance Wednesday.

There is no statute of limitations for when prosecutors can file murder charges in Nevada. The charge can apply to those who aid or abet in a murder, not just the person accused of pulling the trigger, prosecutors said.

“People that write them because they’re hurting or because they’ve been through something tragic or a love story, a breakup,” Alvarado said.

He has been keeping hits alive from some of Mexico’s most beloved artists, such as Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Vicente Fernandez, and many others.

“A lot of people criticize me. Why do you sing those songs? They’re old. But they’re timeless classics, and I like to say what I do what Michael Buble does with Sinatra’s classic jazz tunes, and that’s what I do with Spanish music. It’s a timeless classic,” Alvarado said.

In fact, Alvarado didn’t just start singing these timeless classics. It all started at a young age.

“My dad and his friends would be playing under the palm granite bushes or trees in Mexico. They’re really big. They were playing poker. I would be walking by, and they would ask me to sing, so I would sing El Rey, and they would give me money for chicklets. I was getting paid already at five,” Alvarado recalled.

Since then, he has played in many places, paying tribute to Vicente Fernandez and others. Despite language barriers at some venues, such as a recent performance in San Angelo, the beauty of the music still shines through.

“This lady came up to me when I got off stage, and she said, 'I don’t know what you’re saying when you’re singing, but that’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in my life. It really is.' I’m like. It can’t be. But she goes, 'I’ve never seen anything like that,'” Alvarado shared.

Alvarado, known for capturing the beauty of classic bolero ranchera ballads, has produced music of his own, including the hit single Un Gran Amor.

“Things are moving along, but it’s because of this music,” Alvarado said.

Nonetheless, Alvarado is hopeful that the next generation will continue this timeless genre of music.

“I encourage anybody, any young person, if you love it, just keep going. I don’t see it going anywhere. There’s just got to be more artists doing it," Alvarado expressed.

For Beyhive members who have felt a bit melancholy since the end of the Renaissance World Tour, Beyonce has something significant in store.

Late Sunday night Queen Bey revealed "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé" presented by her own production company Parkwood Entertainment.

The global superstar announced the film moments after the curtain closed on her final tour show in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday night.

She posted a teaser trailer for the film on Instagram.

"Be careful what you ask for, 'cause I just might comply," her caption read, a lyric from her song "All Up In Your Mind."

The trailer begins with Beyoncé dressed in a bright green ensemble backstage of the tour, throwing up the peace sign.

"When I am performing, I am nothing but free," her narration begins. "The goal for this tour was to create a place where everyone is free and no one is judged."

Never-before-seen clips of the "Cuff It" singer with her family and backstage of the 39-city tour flash across the screen as she explains the inspiration behind the tour and the "Renaissance" album.

"Start over, start fresh, create the new. That's what the Renaissance is about," she continued. "At any point, they can close their eyes and be right there and take it with them."

When she's asked how she feels about this, she looks straight into the camera and says:" I feel liberated. I have transitioned into a new animal."

Fans have been waiting for a major announcement since late Saturday night/early Sunday morning when her various social media sites featured a countdown.

On Saturday, Variety revealed that the singer had a partnership with AMC theaters for a tour film, much like Taylor Swift revealed recently.

And yes, the outlet reports we will finally see those visuals.

"Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé" hits theaters in the United States, Canada and Mexico on Dec. 1. Tickets are on sale now here for AMC moviegoers as well as those for Cinemark, Regal, Cinepolis and Cineplex. Additional global cities will be announced at a later date.

According to AMC, the film will be shown on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, for a minimum of four weeks, with multiple showtimes programmed throughout the day.

"Tickets in the US for all standard showtimes will start at $22 plus tax; "Renaissance" will also be available in IMAX at AMC and Dolby Cinema at AMC, and other branded premium large format screens," a news release for the announcement read.
